2nd National Conference on Space Medicine

II National Conference of Space Medicine Julia Bereszczyńska

The 2nd Polish Conference of Space Medicine is a joint initiative of the Medical University of Gdańsk and the Military Institute of Aviation Medicine, implemented as part of the Fahrenheit in Space project. The event develops the idea of previous – meetings from the first edition in Gdańsk, which introduced participants to the subject of space medicine and radiobiology, to the Warsaw meeting expanding the environment of researchers and institutions interested in space.

This year's edition is clearly international in nature and focuses on a practical look at space research. It is a space where scientists, doctors, engineers and representatives of the technology sector talk about how research conducted outside the Earth can change medicine here, every day.

The program will include topics related to the impact of microgravity on the human body, diagnostics in conditions of limited access to equipment, as well as the use of space research in emergency or military medicine. Participants will be able to learn how conditions in space help to better understand aging processes, develop new therapies or test technologies that later go to hospitals on Earth.

The conference also aims to build a strong cooperation environment in the field of space biomedicine. The aim is to create a network connecting research, clinical and technological centres, which in the future may translate into the development of joint projects and the implementation of innovations.

The organizers focus on the open formula of the – event with an emphasis on discussion, exchange of experiences and establishing contacts. It is a space for both recognized experts and people starting their journey in the world of space research.
